Hello friends,
Sunday is not just another day. It’s a day to rest, relax and be refreshed.
In Exodus 23:12, the Lord says,” Six days you shall do your work, but on the seventh day you shall rest, that ….., may be refreshed.
God wants us to have a dedicated rest day so that we can rest from all our work and be refreshed.
For a long time, I have considered Sunday as a day to get ready, go to Church and meet with fellow believers and after the service, have a little tea-time with them. Of course, it used to make me feel good but there’s a complete different experience to have a dedicated day of rest and being intentional about relaxing.
Sunday is a day to rest, spend more time with God, have a good family time and be refreshed. It’s very essential to have such dedicated days so we know what we are going to do and what we are NOT going to do.
On Sundays, we say ‘YES’ to have a little bit more prayer time, reading and meditating on God’s Word, going into His presence worship Him along with His congregation, the Church. We also say ‘YES’ to sleeping a little more, still be on bed thanking God for the new morning He has given us, for the family around us, cuddle them a little more, and just be okay with not rushing to start the day.
Say ‘NO’ to working on Sundays and if you can, minimize your regular chores as well- try to maintain a Sunday routine that best fits you and your family and make time accordingly so you find peace in what you do.
My Ideal Sunday Morning-
- Start my day at around 6AM or 6:30AM- waking up but still being on bed to thank God for all His precious blessings
- Cuddle with my husband and little one
- Spend more relaxed quality time with God- praying + reading and meditating on God’s Word.
- Get ready and have our breakfast outside(my fav. is Dunkin Donuts- I have special memories with this place so I love to go there with my family. What’s your favorite?)
- Go into the presence of GOD to worship Him along with His congregation – this refreshes my spirit and mind
- Spend some time to have fellowship with other believers(after Church) over some snacks or some tea/coffee – refreshing, as well!
- Relax- do what makes you feel relaxed without rushing to do anything( you can lie down for a bit, do some skincare or hair care, listen to a good podcast or a YT video while walking outside, going for a family walk, etc.)
I would also prepare and reset for the new day/week ahead on a Sunday night but only after spending time doing most or all of the above things. I’d suggest to ask God if you can have some dedicated time to prepare and reset for the new week.
Try practicing a dedicated rest day on a Sunday and let me know how it made you feel.
If you would like to start a dedicated rest day and make your Sunday as a day to rest, relax and be refreshed, you can download it a copy-
Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest.
